‘Keep Checking Up On Me’ (and its accompanying video) is the perfect way to introduce yourself to Chartreuse. The band are genre-benders at the best of times, but their latest track brings together ideas from folk and jazz, and hits them with inspiration from hip-hop, indie and electronic music. The end result is something totally hypnotic and endlessly catchy, which builds into moments of ferocious drumming and visceral bass. The video, filmed in a church under the light of nothing but lamps and the haze of burning incense, is an almost sensory experience that shows the skill of director Joe Connor.
